13.03.20 - A Word From Will

Like many of you, I’m anxious to get this year’s racing season underway, especially with all the developments we have made after what was an educational 2019 season in the Radical SR1 Cup (if you’re unaware of how last year panned out, check out ‘The Radical Review’ YouTube series).

There’s now less than a month before lights-out at Oulton Park, when the SR1 Cup will once again run in support of the Intelligent Money British GT Championship.

My Scorpio Motorsport team and I are doing everything we can to make sure the car and I are at 110 per cent, and we have decided not to take part in the official Radical ‘Prologue’ pre-season test at Donington Park on 20 March – rest assured, it’s for entirely positive reasons.

The Radical SR1 is a high-performance piece of art that must be well prepared and conditioned, and Scorpio Motorsport has given the #21 machine a lot of TLC between the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

New internal components and a full engine rebuild are just some of the measures the team has taken to optimise the car’s performance and reliability.

The whole process takes time, though, and rushing to ready the project for the ‘Prologue’ would be counter-productive and could potentially bite us later in the year.

Instead, a thorough, perfectionist approach is being taken; to put it simply, we’re taking our time to ensure we have a perfect package from the outset of the season at Oulton Park.

I will keep you all informed as to when we will be out for our first shakedown in the 2020-spec Radical SR1, but we will also have more exciting news to share in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to willhuntracing.com and my Facebook and Instagram accounts.
